i read that the true story about a group of boys who get stranded on a remote island is the opposite of the story of lord of the flies. in lord of the flies the story is ruthless survival by violence and repression, but the real story was about cooperation and friendship. you wonder why the story got twisted around. was it to reflect what would have happened if the boys had been boys of the western empire rather than boys of tonga? what a grim tale it grew into. i like the true story so much better.
