we talked about flag and pole, how the pole is rooted in earth and sways in wind and supports the flag that would otherwise fly every way and away. and fade and fray. about the stick wrapped with a little flag i rescued and washed and tied up loosely but secure and still carry around. it's like i combined the flag with the pole. i was thinking of symbol of the captive captured state and also a body, tied in flag shroud, but kept intact, sort of sleeping, waiting for possible release, unfurling, in time, pandemic time, and after, altered from pre-pandemic time, which really was pandemic time as well as it will be in time to come, yet feeling something nurturing, consciousness and connection made possible by the pandemic, pandemic rooting, going into the self that erodes in the extractive depleting human paradigm and recreates in nature. back to nature not back before but back now to the root that is not sacrificed to the neoliberal death machine.
anyway i'm writing fast and wishing i could do it slow it but i want to get what may slip away even though i know the tumult will lose things too it all goes back to intuition plus roots and the roots stay through the blooming and dying seasons. we are bodies connected to earth and our awareness is swaying in the wind, we're rooting in earth and wind.
at first i didn't like the flag&pole analogy, i always dreaded the american flag, symbol of coercion and violent control, of ruthless empire of the powerful elite, of ultimate force of the few over the many, but we are all flags and poles, and we can do what we want with our bodies and create our own meaning, we can take or leave what symbols the powerful may wield. we can remove their power if we choose.
