the first movie of the double feature was called cenote and i knew the word once and the other was called beginning. the title of the first is clear as most of the film is immersed in a watery underground, in these gorgeous mayan cenotes that connect in mysterious ways and people get sucked in and lost and disappear forever and two of the dead read the narration from beyond like we're visiting them they're our guides to the mayan underworld. some are annoyed by the movie but the things they disparage are the things i love. the second movie of the double feature (and i only want to write these not as reviews per se but to record impressions before i forget) is called beginning and it's as mysterious as the first but in a completely different dreamlike way. i don't know why it's called beginning but the director said the last shot was the beginning of the film so that's why, ok. why don't you just try it. it's a stunner in a variety of ways. it gets to the soul of the matter in direct intuitive ways. don't bring your logic to bear, just surrender.
