saw the ascent by larisa shepitko. it's supposed to be a masterpiece but to me it keeps on saying look at this (behold) this masterpiece. a masterpiece doesn't need to proclaim itself. gauche, especially if it bores. and the interviews with her she keeps saying it too. grandiose. i don't get why some things are elevated like that. i recommend come and see by her husband elim klimov, and leave the ascent to climb itself.
