Nothing is worth pondering from the perspective of historical consciousness precisely because of its static nature: Everything changes, except Nothing. Nothing remains the same—that is, Nothing remains Nothing—and it turns out that history is a response to both change over time and to the continuum of Nothing remaining the same.
Susan Crane, Nothing Happened
i suggested this for purchase at the library. hope they get it. i already get the gist and i've already put it out there and in here but i'd like to get it from the library, or maybe from stanford where susan crane teaches. this a book right up my alley.
the picture above reminds me of something, i think a comic character but also a woodblock painting i made of a blockhead with a red mask or stripe over his eyes and mouth, and a bulbous sunflower color nose. no, i think i'm conflating two blocks, anyway it looks different but under the difference it's the same. nothing is really something.
