reading the home place by j. drew lanham we got with wintering i love the writing that comes natural it seems of the homeplace where wintering seemed overlaid somehow and not as natural. i love that sense of place. i had a sense similar but it was for a little claimed space left by the developers, a patch of unused land, not home place, but a place left alone by subdivision for a kid to investigate with subtle deep fluttery aspirational homing instinct. when i find a home place in books i'm always glad to be there, especially when i'm in place that feels provisional and subject to encroachment. it started with wondering what kind of relationship exists among nature and technology and evolution.
