i finished island zombie. hum, she didn't say specifically why she referred to a zombie in the title. i guess it's her. it could be in the west african sense of zumbi—fetish. she does have a fetish for iceland. iceland is her fetish.
she's not a person who is or appears lifeless, apathetic, or completely unresponsive to their surroundings. she's keenly responsive to the point of disappearing perhaps. and maybe in a sense she haunts the landscape as it inhabits her.
she's neither a hypothetical being that responds to stimulus as a person would but that does not experience consciousness. she might be a hypothetical being in a sense, the sense that we're all hypothetical, but embodied in flesh. animate and reanimated too. she doesn't explain it i don't think, unless i forgot already which is possible. i get a feeling anyway that i was there.

now i'm going to dive into machiavelli, the art of teaching people what to fear. we'll see, i enter with open mind. teaching people what to fear is at the same time teaching people what not to fear i reckon. fear kind of takes over. we gotta get a hold of it.
