the body stores habits of a lifetime like memories. habits, if you look, you can see, if you can see maybe change. the telling changes the tale.
at the lake i was reading the body remembers, not the exact title but the title that fits. i read about someone who had surgery and the anesthetic was too light yet the muscle relaxant held her so she experienced the whole surgery awake and in excruciating detail of pain, like torture, and even recalled all the talk during, laughing about somebody's love affair and then someone saying the anesthetic is light, but we don't need to record that. her body kept a record of the whole nightmare.
when people remember a trauma years later it is with the same accuracy and detail as someone who remembers directly after. but then it will change as the memory grows.
oh my god it's hot up here.
