if a kid's born in the brute patriarchy, subject to a brute patriarch, lacking nurture, consciousness has a hard time growing. my dad was of the brute patriarchal breed, misogynist, homophobic, intolerant, strict and cold, but mom was, though sad, nurturing, and tuned to nature, she taught me to love plants and animals. that's the difference i see, people who are power obsessed brutes didn't have love, and they can't get it, all they know is coercion. and we suffer the results, over and over.
