there's a thing called learned helplessness the humans invented, the psy-op scientists—or maybe it was just a coincidence, they learned it by torture. they got that down to a science, there's a swollen manual. they administered electric shocks to dogs repeatedly. when the control group dogs saw they ran in terror, but the shocked dogs just lay there and waited for the next shock, crying and defecating. humans do it humans too, with war and police state brutality. some humans try to run from other humans with tasers and guns, but where you gonna run? i read in the body keeps the score like shocked dogs, many traumatized people simply give up. rather than risk experimenting with new options they stay stuck in the fear they know, even though it literally scares the shit out of them.
their fight/flight response had been thwarted, and the result was either extreme agitation or collapse.
