naturally, behind every event there's a story, and behind the story there are more stories, like the roots of a tree reaching wide and down, and down inside each of us is a primal story where all the primal events go, the place of dreams and fears, and once a primal event touches that place like a lightning tap root, the primal story rises up and speaks and scares the daylights out of us.
something like that. i might write it a thousand ways and still it wouldn't be finished writing.
as for the attack by maple yesterday, today i relaxed with the news that maple is far away in wisconsin. it was the time of year of a tragic anniversary, they were packing the car for the trip and turned for one second to put a bag in, and bang. the last thing he said was they don't want maple to attack, and i said of course.
we walk around and we sense things perhaps we'll never realize and maybe when something cracks like this a light might get inside and a light might escape and reveal a little more of the story so that we might be more vigilant and also more understanding.
