if we evolve language in response to our environment 

what language do we evolve in response to a land stolen and  

repurposed for a process that excludes and displaces us 

and which with euphemism deems the death of trees repurposing. 

how does our language evolve in the stolen land 

if we are left yet don't leave? 

the land thieves' empty words 

fall at our feet where the trees used to be. 

we're left to struggle with words to respond to the unsayable 

land empty of belief and still with the need 

to recall the dead witness trees.
