we caught up with succession. a couple episodes it dipped low and i thought i might exit but then it came back, then there was some boredom, but it had started working in me i guess. now i'm glad not to be behind in it, i'm ahead.                                                                                                         sarah asked what drew me in. i think it's both family and capitalism, the nexus of the two, the flustered care, the impossibility of care. the ruthless self-serving of empire. the bottomless sadness. the hunger, the boredom, the waste, the triteness! the empty victory. it's just another story of america. it could be any story, though. it must be the characters. they're compelling because they want so much and they have no idea what it is or how to get it. they never will win the prize.
