someone told me once i should be in the mountains, in nature, not in the city, but i said i was in nature before, now i'm here. this tree is here too. nature is in the city. some of it is severely pruned or sacrificed for development, but some will always exist somehow in plain sight or in the margins. in the oak papers he talks about how he feels better directly being with trees. he asks a scientist why and hears how he's in a place away from the normal world, from straight lines and grids and into curves. sitting in the oak he feels supported and free. we can do this in the city. this oak is right across the street of speeding automobiles. the green spaces we make, once we get past the speeding streets, relieve us. these green spaces are what we need and what the enterprising developers like obama will destroy.
