yesterday i wrote asking if anyone knew the title of this and today i got a message. it's called south side scene and the remnant is called rebirth (1974) by astrid fuller. she also did the one under the 57th street tracks which was restored. i guess this one will not be. so, i'm glad to know what it was and is and that it's still here for the spring equinox before it disappears. the historical society didn't know anything about it. it was 740 feet in length. there are no pictures of the missing 730 feet. the mosaic of obama under the tracks in woodlawn will be with us for a hella long time.
