hi stephanie—                                                                                                      i'm watching the crews swarm around around the 60th st. metra, the women's garden, and the running track (ground zerO)—with a familiar sinking feeling. i thought that it would start in april, but it's underway. the equinox is a time of growing light, and letting go. i think part of letting go as regards the obama fundation landgrab is letting go the hope that the dreaded change might be averted. of course, hope never dies, and if i let it go i am open to a supreme miracle and hope the bird of my heart doesn't hit a closed window.                                                           —doug shaeffer
