we saw ryuichi sakamoto's coda last night. he got cancer of the throat. he stopped working for a minute but started up again when asked to score the revenant. he said he has a dead bone in his face. after the documentary there's an amazing solo concert in new york. he wants to make film music like andrei tarkovsky uses sound in his films. he wants to make a sound that doesn't fade, like the hum of the universe. love that guy.
