this is a dog day off post. i looked through a cache of photographs and drawings i gleaned from a neighbor's bungalow who died. she'd be right surprised to see them appear here. i didn't know her but her son was nice and overwhelmed. this goes back some years. they were at my studio and just the tip of the tip so to speak. and some pictures of my unknown or forgotten family. things i can bring back to sort while r. sorts through bankers boxes of an abandoned stamp collection her father found in a vacated storage space in an apartment building in the seventies. i said to r. when i looked at one of jean's drawings as a child, you know i could have used a lot of those stamps when i was collaging, but when i find a drawing collage like this (the baby mother collaged together with s&h green stamps) that was being tossed in the trash, i'm just as pleased as i was when i made something myself. this was a productive day off. i feel like my saturday's off are still the grace of mister's absence. and i want to hug him here now at the close of this post.
