this was our second solstice bog walk. each time feels different. it always feels good. we started rather late. picked up until the end of the world at the library and renewed my card. we saw sandhill cranes over open produce, almost exactly where i saw them last year and looked up and saw paul my bud from high school. then i exchanged my moldy cashew yogurt for a loaf of seeded rye and got one bone back. we both feel like maybe we were bog people in a former life. it was rather somber, a little haunting. we fought not nor got lost. we had a good birthday solstice but we waited 800 years for the conjunction of saturn and jupiter and the clouds blotted them out. but they are there and conjoined sure even if we can't see, we saw them sidling up together last night.
