...because if their survival is not important to us, then nothing is important.
our dear friend pat sent pictures of piping plovers doing their thing on montrose beach with a deep message about life. when i look at them my heart beats like wings in a mating dance, and my brain throbs with the thought that without love and care they might have gone extinct. my spirit responds, how could that be? look, they're so alive!
and i let the images settle in my head like the plover on the nest, and this morning swimming out i thought, if the migratory birds don't matter nothing does. and if the migrating people don't matter nothing does. if anyone doesn't matter then neither do we and no one does. and we do matter, and we know when we watch the piping plovers dance, and we dance with them, individually and with the whole migration of species.
