i read another article on dune and learned that frank herbert was a complex cat, raised by pacifist socialists. at some point the books start going a different direction and he goes a little nuts and the irs is hounding him for taxes and i can totally see why he distrusts and abhors government and the neoliberal elite but going republican is just insanity. well the books are still an ecological parable and a warning about human hubris greed and depravity.
