these eyes.
there's a connection between the fungus and night, worry and soul. between individual and species, between mind and body and body and world. there's a connection between eyes we can feel. we may look away. may look back and it's gone. i feel the gaze of animals like a query or supplication. i don't shy from theirs, though i may feel inadequate.
