we saw gabriel and the mountain last night. it was soul good i thought it was really happening before our eyes. i don't know the real gabriel but the boy who plays gabriel really is gabriel now, i'm certain. i think sometimes via the magic of cinema souls do travel into productions, into the eyes and spirit and art of production with the conviction of reality.
i just thought about the local gabriel, my friend who's trying to represent the community by election to alderman. i saw him yesterday on the friendly corner bundled and smiling and reaching out and i told him i had been rather lame and only got him one page of names.
i thought of my gabriel and the mountain of names he needs to climb in order to represent them. i think of the hand i might have given the sad sweet boy gabriel in the movie, and i think of our local sweet gabriel, and i give him my hand with a page of names.
