{angel of leaves}
{wood chip angel [ dead woodcutter] }
{angel copper}
A prerequisite for a true image of an angel is
to have winged appendages attached to the shoulder blades of a human
figure. And, of course, every child raised Catholic, like myself, was
assigned a guardian angel at birth, to guide us away from the pitfalls
that awaited us in our earthy journey. I named mine Sylvester.
With a nod to our great local birder, Dr. Randy S., Horus, of ancient Egyptian mythology, is depicted with a falcon’s head. Then there is Icarus,
the son of Daedalus, inventor of the Labyrinth, who cared not for fire
starters, and winged his way too close to the sun, with tragic
consequences.
-pat, the bird head.
i
saw several angels today mostly made by me writhing in ecstasy on the
snowy ground. but when i do that thing it calls copper and i realize
he's my guardian angel, my secret conductor, and since i wasn't born a
catlick and unassigned i feel pretty doggone lucky. when i think of sylvester i think first of sly (sylvester) stone, who was a funky angel assigned to me in east st. louis by my mom's friend virgo who gave me the album fresh and made my hair go wild. then i think of sylvester the cat, which is funny for the name of the head birder's angel, i tawt i taw a puddy tat! i did! i did!
then i get entomological, wait is that words, or bugs? and i find it comes from the latin silvestris, meaning 'wooded', or 'wild'.
then i remember sylvia. i called her sylph. she was always riding her arab horse majik, or throwing off her clothes and jumping in the water.
that was neither here nor there, well then it was there, but it wasn't here then or now. she was my creepy unworthy uncle's angel, much to her chagrin.
anyway i will agree with pat, i dig the angel sylvester and
i could really dig a head with wings and a pair of them gold wing shoes.
-i asked pat who she named her guardian angel for. i don't know if she was pulling my leg, but she said, there was a cartoon character named sylvester the cat..
