we want freedom from the freedom of the one's who want the right to manufacture and bear the arms that kill us, we are sick and tired
of the endless, relentless escalating waves of ruthless american violence, we are tired of the business of death. we who still value life stand with people everywhere who suffer the sanctions and the slaughter of american empire.
someone says it's a complicated issue, the same thing we say about the endless expansion of war, it's complicated, you wouldn't understand, you're just a kid, an artist, a dreamer. but dreamers understand, they want to make it complicated for us, they want us to comply, and that's so simple, it could not be simpler: they profit by suffering, degradation, and death.
it couldn't be simpler, it doesn't take genius: business is booming, they're making a killing.
i had to come back and read this. someone said i was talking trash about and misrepresenting her. she said she would never look at the blog again (except the pictures, maybe) and i was shocked. i didn't think the post was much different than what i said in person, with a little reflection and elaboration. if i came back and realized oh that was my devil talking trash i might have removed it or apologized or something, yet i don't see what is so inciting of rancor. someone did say it's complicated, that people have the right to bear arms. and i said there should be gun control. that the nra is an industry of death. i'll stand by it. i wrote back that i would keep her out of the blog from now on. i'm not sure if i will, but i'll not talk trash or misrepresent. and there were indications previously that she did not favor my musings, so i suppose it shouldn't come as too much of a surprise. but still, i feel bad that she seems to clearly loathe me now.
one caveat though, all i meant is she said it's complicated. and some other stuff about self-defense. it was more my thoughts about how we continue to say it's complicated when war and school shootings to me are just different manifestations of the industry we call self-defense.
one more note. in truthdig this morning there is a story header, how political pessimism helps doom tougher gun laws, yet when i try to open it, it says page cannot be found.
who knows, in the age of trump.
the mine that exploded with someone was already there, just waiting for the trigger. i'll say lastly, guns are not making anyone more safe. guns are killing people, and as the technology advances, so does the death toll, and cynical politicians profit.
this thread continues to unravel, like an old afghan, but i just want to say, i have no suggestions, no way forward, i want to stop talking about guns, i hate guns, i just want them to go away, i know gun laws will reflect gun sales and not represent victims. so be it. i want to shut up now about guns and pray.
