i want to thank you, w.j.t. mitchell.

if something as fundamental as community structure can change with a change of prime predator, i'd have thought dreams would change.

charles foster,
being the beast

i did in fact attend the talk on obama's incursion on and confiscation of our public park , and i am grateful to mary for inviting me and hosting and tom mitchell for his passion and eloquent defense of the public green space. it struck me just now that they threw us a bone with the midway, and i'm sure it was in part due to the recognition that it was untenable for their purposes as well as ours. they are not now dialoguing with the public, and they are still bulldozing forward in the demolishing of nature and the taking of public green space. i think they think though i can't pretend to think as they think for i do not and will never think as they think but i think they thought we would be satisfied with our five acres of saved midway green. but it is only the beginning and now we must revitalize the save jackson park site. stay tuned. if we lose this we will still at the very least have given voice to the unheard, to the plants and animals and the people who will be displaced by obama's vision of hope and change.
