i always wanted to get mister and sonny together. we met by lab school in the beautiful winter light. mister walked through all the kids getting out of school. a kid said a dog off leash in admiration. mister trotted on and i followed.
now i'm watching white god about stray dogs in hungary. the humans are mainly idiots who use and abuse make the dogs hate, and then they start rounding up the free dogs to kill them but the dogs revolt and make dog revolution in the streets.
they used real street dogs and then got homes for all of them.
the director says he went to a shelter and he felt ashamed watching their eyes behind the fences. it really pushed my soul he said. the film title is a self criticism. i'm the white god. they love me, they would like to be part of my life. the dogs love us as humans more than we as humans love ourselves. and that was such a contradiction for me, how we hate ourselves so many times, and that's why we become aggressive, the language of power we use, all of these stupid rules. and the title is a reflection of the samuel fuller movie white dog.
in white dog the dog is trained to hate black people, but in white god the free dogs, all mixed breed, learn to hate the society of godlike white rulers, the humans.
