what did you think of that movie the square? i admit i was distracted as i watched, and the mofo was looong. i watched it in halves. as i remember it was kind a series of vignettes or set pieces with a linking theme of this art installation called the square. it was kind trenchant social observation skewering the rich and corrupt art museum culture and society in general. the square was suppose to be an area of altruistic inclusion where sort of magic happens if you step inside, good things, fair treatment etc. but throughout the film beggars all around were shunned. there was a scene with a monkey man set loose on a rich people donor party and the monkey man runs around harassing them until they all jump him and beat him to death. there was another one i remembered in the showa but i fugot. oh it does not matter. when i saw the title i thought that was a film about the egyptian revolution and it was and surely the echo was intended. it would be interesting to see them as a double feature, the square squared.
