i'm reading about the self and consciousness and thinking how the ideas are imposed  as much as posed like questions, thinking we make up answers therefore making reality when in humility we are left with a sea of questions unanswered, which is the essence of a question right?
yet we know we are a self. we are more than gene machines right? a self in a sea of questions, with other selves.
galen strawson writes about transient self and endurant self. the endurant self considers itself continuous, for life. maybe that lends one's consciousness to the notion of life as narrative. the transient self isn't in the past or the future tense, and may have no narrative sense and only questions.
g.s. says these styles of being are radically opposed. but i feel rather both transient and enduring. maybe these modes are both happening, independently and together in some sense. maybe the consciousness that thinks of the self can think of both, there is narrative, because we long for meaning, and there is a sea of questions, amounting to wonder, and fear, scintillating all around us.
oh shit, i gotta go. my foot is swollen but not discolored and mister has only today and tomorrow and then he can't swim after surgery, so i want to get in the water. i will seal my foot well, mom!
