it went well for us this morning a precious and rare gentle and warm day in the lowlands of chicago. copp was sore of foot but perked up with the audubonders and swam in the lagoon. so many birds and some birders who did not seem welcoming to dog so we tried to be sinuous and discrete and the birds birded all around us. copp's best audubud was hurt of foot too and absent with treats. then we met charlie wagsworth and an intense discussion of everything from dogs to poverty to the all encompassing control of good neighbors and bad government. it got too too and i bowed away, then a nasty guard at the museum evil eyed us and i returned the favor and asked why she be lookin so, just get your  dog she said, so mean. but that's what happens when it gets nice, you get all kinds, it's hunting season and broken eggs and clear water and blossoms and this little preserve will survive a while longer perhaps simply because the army corpse of engineers doesn't want to stir up the nike missile silo buried beneath the nature preserve and so ironically the nike will actually protect something, meanwhile slow leaking effluvia. i havent seen a frog. but the birds, oh, and i saw a snake which always kindles hope of a kind a politician never would.
