i think there's a species loneliness, a species of loneliness, particular to humans, all susceptible humans, anyway. that's why we need you, but suppose we need all the species, suppose that all had reasons to exist, not just their own, but ours, who's to say, what we needed, what we lost, what we can't replace. i think we've evolved, if that's what we did, into a very lonely species. you know what i mean, don't you?
