sunday morning murder memorial on cornell ave. i see a man walking slowly and slow down to take a picture and he tells me what happened and i tell him i saw yesterday before the memorial, the blood, and point down to his feet, and he steps away from the stain.

he said he wanted to see where it was. we wondered why people get shot on this street, on this block, and i say it's often at kid's parks they kill for territory, but it's been up and down this street, maybe 4 or 5 i know of the past couple years, and he says affordable housing. is that what it is? grim. will we see murder move out with affordable housing as the obomba engine gentrifies? or will there be more guns and more despair and more murder everywhere.
so now we will see this memorial as we come and we go for as long as it lasts.

post script. i thought they said the university hospital trauma center opened last year, yet it's not opening until may, so all this time gunshot victims have been sent away, dying all the way. i wonder why they keep calling the new e.r. a trauma center, as i wonder why they call the obomba tower a library. everything is frangible. i look up frangible, the search turns up bullets. brittle, brittle, disintegrating.
