the decayed condition of american democracy is difficult to grasp
not because the facts are secret, but because the facts are visible
everywhere.

-wm. grieder,
who will tell the people.*

the epigraph is about as far as i could get in ratfucked, the true story behind the secret plan to steal america's democracy. i didn't have the heart. but i quite like the term and it seems highly befitting the trumpo's truth regime. i have in my belated wisdom moved on to better things, currently, landmarks, by robert macfarlane. both books are about massive loss, but i felt directly better reading macfarlane. his passion, his love, he writes about the language of nature and the landscape and language being lost, and erased from the dictionary. how the loss of natural life is reflected in the new lexicon of artifice. in what is missing. and i realized i need to go there, to restore what is being lost in natural language, and not the irredeemable evil morass of politics and progress.
