there was a man sleeping in mary's vestibule and comet was barking and growling and the police came and i guess that's good because they said there was a man with an axe under the train tracks acting deranged they said. after our walk i learned it was the man who lived under the tracks. last year the man under the tracks was ousted by the police and a garbage truck took away all his belongings and i was surprised he was back in the same place and his camp was growing. there's more to the story i don't know, but he seemed peaceable. while i was out i felt a little edgy, there's been a lot of sirens over easter weekend. now when it's quiet it's not just quiet, there's apprehension in the air, and birds—when the birds go quiet it gets eerie.
