caretaker,
my caretaker.
i'm listening to the caretaker—everywhere at the end of time. it has the feeling of the scenes in the ballroom of the lodge in the shining, filled with slow dancing ghosts. the caretaker of the overlook could shine, he was clairvoyant, could see what happened in the past and in the future. the history of violence is everywhere, overlooked.
this just came out this way, i was merely thinking of the reciprocal nature of caretaking mister and listening to the caretaker and then the image of that past ballroom in the present
came, and then i wonder if the caretaker, the musician was thinking of the shining too, with his album title. the film has caretakers who tend to die, but then appear in the pictures, and in the shining of the new caretaker. the overlook gets looked after no matter what happens there, it continues, like history, always dying, always at the edge, never dead.
