i celebrate the bison but i can't see the living without thinking of the dead and wondering how many we killed. almost all of them i guess. they were nearly extinct. now the bison are managed and culled to fit the plots of land left from the big land grab. 
it's good that we have anything left but it makes me sad that so many were killed in the theft and slaughter that made america great.
