we started watching the tale last night and it was too bogus, product, you know, trying too hard and failing the story and demeaning intelligence. sad. but then we watched la boyita, a wonderful story simply and beautifully told about a kid who was raised as a boy but was a girl, and a girl who helped her be. the tale might have been a good film if they didn't try so hard to be cool and if they trusted the intelligence of the viewer. la boyita just let the kids act naturally, and the story simply unfold.
