i was wary of american circumcision, afraid of waking a sleeping ghost and a terrorized baby, but maybe the ghost and the baby boy never really sleep, and i had the film in my queue, and when we bailed on bird box, r. said we might as well get it over with. true, i'm glad we got it over with, the film anyway, and though it incited my old ghost with fresh anger, it will help in the long run to think about how this game america is run, and what it means to be an individual at the mercy and in the middle of a vast and bizarre social construction that has no love of it's most precious and vulnerable citizens.
sarah asked how r responded to the film.
r was angry
too, but not as angry, more sad maybe. i'm one of the lucky? ones. some
babies are really mutilated, losing the penis altogether, and some die.
the tools the use remind me of cronenberg's dead ringers. it's evil,
barbaric.
