the erosion of the man made shoreline is advancing. the running path they just restored is crumbling, and the concrete platforms they added this summer are undermined by the tide. whole sections of the limestone block sea wall have fallen. the city refuse they have dumped for decades has been strewn all over the grass and the path, and then been bulldozed back. it's the mechanized reverse of the natural tide. i know they are thinking, we must build a massive wall here to contain the lake. it will be a wall keeping us from the lake too. this containment will make me sadder than the levee of concrete waste. if only we could have a natural shore to go to. how lovely that would be.
