it's not the weather, it's the misery. and the weather. it's worsening, and you hear less often now, it could be worse. it's not just the weather, it's the climate. it's not just the misery of the culture, it could be worse. it's the constant adjustment to what could be worse. it's the climate of constant change for the worse, and the fear that it could even be worse.
i remember a whole genre of cartoons making fun of zealots for the end times. like they weren't only dropouts, like that was their job, so we could avert our eyes on the way to work and laugh at them in cartoons. i remember thinking, that's not funny, that's not funny, neither is that. now the cartoons about hairy disheveled street people with signs and prophecies of the end times have disappeared, now it's not so funny, and not because we've got religion, but because the profits of doom are not cartoons.
