i think of everything that is here dissipating.
i think i thought how ennui comes over me, and what luxury, to be free to feel ennui.
and more though, what is freedom for? to think
about what the whole world feels, from ennui to anomie.
emile durkheim described anomie as "derangement", and "an insatiable will".
he used the term "the malady of the infinite" because desire without limit can never be fulfilled; it only becomes more intense.
it's some comfort to link with minds that saw this coming, it eases the personal isolation we feel in a lost society.
