it's still a mystery even though the powerful want to make the planet a simple equation: money for death. the powerful can be a massive engine of gentrification, monoculture, and hyperspeed genocide ecocide extinction, but they can't become the machines they pretend to be. they too depend on the manna of stars, they too depend on the gifts of green beings, they too will lie in dirt, they too will atomize, they too in the end will reach for the sky.
