i started watching glenn greenwald's podcast on industrialized factory farms and i had to pause because the scenes of animal slaughter are unbearable. the workers are trained to have zero empathy, the same as soldiers. anyone with the natural born quality of empathy for the pain and suffering of other sentient beings could not possibly do the work of slaughter without going insane.
