i wanted to finish ends of the earth before sunday as i may attend a talk by the author downstairs and also i wanted to start malcolm before x on feb. 21 the day of his death which i did. the story, how he went from house thief through prison and came out as x is a fascinating american dream. he died at 39 but he lived a whole life story. anything after that would have to be fiction. i wonder what he would have done had he not been shot. thinking about x and the ends of earth.
