the same old settler colonialism that takes what it wants and says it's better this way.

 we were listening to  chimamanda ngozi adichie speaking at the humboldt forum about the settler colonial theft of sacred cultural objects and i thought of obama's theft of the park. they say it was underused or used badly. we say obama has stolen our park, obama has misused our park, and killed our trees, we say give back our park, but he will build his settler colonial tower and our park will be occupied and colonized for 99 years—long after the powerful occupier has died and the park is his story.
