we were transients, we grew up that way. i made fantasy attachments to some places, back yards, undetermined zones between subdivisions, fallow fields where i dug for arrowheads. i'm reading winona laduke, to be a water protector, and i feel the threat, but i never had a place to protect, and being transient was to have no protection. the park here i would protect even though i'm a transient, but i don't know how and it doesn't work that way, and i'm afraid it doesn't work that way anywhere, that money is a power can take everything. but that's why i want to read this, because winona has been fighting for a long time, and she says true power is in connection, not not extraction, and it's in the spirit of nature along with the water protectors.
