as the water tops the sea wall and spreads the rubble dumped for generations over the grass, over the walking path, even to the highway, i wonder what would this place be like if we could let nature make the shore, with marsh, willow and sea grass, with waterbirds nesting. if they had allowed a natural buffer to be, and put the road a little further inland. the whole coast is a engineered dream failed and crumbling, or dominated by an imprisoning new concrete nightmare. what would the city be like if were to work with rather than destroy all the nature that belongs here. we will probably never be lucky enough to see what nature would do with this place, but in earth time-soon, when the collapse comes, and there's no more ancient sunlight to run our machines, then we, or some other we, will know. i can see this rubble field greening next to a blue route where smiling animals stroll and dream.
