we almost avoided the birders on the island today. i was shy about denying them treats for mister. silly. i know they show love that way and it's a cultural thing. people are schooled to feel love isn't enough. and it is. so if we transition away from the processed treats we'll all be happy birders. 
the island is actually recovering slowly in this slow slow spring from the poisoners and the denuding and the thoughtless planning. the only integrity is not by human design but natural resiliency. we don't expect integrity from the park district nor the city and anyway worse is to come with obomba's high-rise. this place will not be a place of migrating birds but of busloads of tourists.
