Word of the day, surd. I did not know surd was a word, I only knew the word absurd. Surd comes from the latin surdus (deaf or mute). I always think of dad saying "abzurd". It's my word now he's gone. He gave it me. It's irrational, and a sound made without vocal cord vibration. Dad could say it with a look and a raised right eyebrow.
