the top one is brutalism in russia. perhaps it's not a doppelgänger, but it gives off the same foreboding feeling, albeit more beautifully. if they could have restrained themselves from adding the mausoleum cladding, it would have had more integrity. it would have been more honest, more integral, architecturally, but it wouldn't have expressed the legacy of obama as well. brutalism is raw concrete. as it is, it feels like a monument of gaslighting disdain, concretized and dressed up in fakery, for the funeral of the common good.
